Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign and Stuff-a-Cruiser Toy Drive coming soon

The Salvation Army begins its holiday campaigns this weekend:

Christmas Kettle Campaign – The Salvation Army is kicking-off its annual Christmas Kettle Campaign this Saturday, November 28 beginning at 11:00am. We are now ready to collect the funds required to provide a Christmas Dinner to families in our area who live in poverty.

The familiar Red Christmas Kettles will be throughout the town starting Saturday, November 28, 2015 and continuing until December 23. The money collected in these Kettles provides some of the much-needed funds to fill the requests at Christmas and year round.

Community Ministries Officer, Major Darren Wiseman says, “This Christmas we are anticipating a large number of requests as in previous years. We estimate a minimum of 300 families will register with us for Christmas assistance. This will provide a complete Christmas Dinner plus toys and gifts for children of all ages.”

Stuff-a-Cruiser – On December 12, 2015 from 10:00am – 2:00pm the Ontario Provincial Police Auxiliary members will be out at the Wal-Mart and Canadian Tire parking lots in full-force looking for help to keep the Spirit of Christmas alive in Hunstville and the surrounding areas.

The OPP will be collecting new, unwrapped toys to be distributed by The Salvation Army to children as young as infants and up to the age of 17. The OPP and The Salvation Army are hopeful that the public will once again give generously to this worthwhile campaign.

Kettle Volunteers Needed – To optimize donations received on the Kettles we need Bell Ringers to man the kettles. To volunteer time call the main office at 705-789-3398. Become a bell-ringer today!

Annual Radiothon – On December 11, 2015 from 6:00am – 6:00 pm The Moose 105.5 FM will be hosting our annual Radiothon. All proceeds from this event will go to help The Salvation Army provide for families at Christmas and throughout the year. Call 705-789-4461 to donate.
