Registration open for YWCA Girlz Leading Change March break camp

YWCA Muskoka is offering girls ages 10 to 14 a unique opportunity to participate in the Girlz Leading Change March break camp in Huntsville. Girlz Leading Change will be running March 13 to 17 at Huntsville Public School.

Facilitated by Marcy Hill, a well-known and long standing YWCA Muskoka staff member, this program will encourage girls to learn about and celebrate inspirational women found in our country, community, family and beyond. Participants will also be encouraged to examine their own gifts and talents and ways they can give back to their community.

“We are excited to be able to do a March Break program for girls again”, says Youth Programs Coordinator, Stacey Schat, ”We are looking forward to seeing new faces and also giving girls from our summer and school-based Girlz Unplugged programs a different opportunity to learn and play together for a full week.”

Also during the month of March, there will be a youth and community art exhibition titled ‘150 Faces’ in Partner’s Hall at the Algonquin Theatre. This exhibition will show 150 portraits of inspirational women created by local youth and community members. The participants of Girlz Leading Change will be participating in and enhancing this exhibition with a community celebration at Partner’s Hall on Friday, March 17th .

The participants will build a community of support and inspiration through art, conversation and fun group activities.

There are spaces for 20 participants in this Girlz Leading Change so YWCA staff are encouraging parents and girls not to wait too close to the start date if they want to be sure to have a spot. The program with run 9am to 4pm with extended hours of 8am to 5pm. Healthy snacks are provided.
