To Our Incredible Community,
I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude to all the people who have reached out and helped my family during this life-changing time. On October 1, our home was completely destroyed by fire, and we lost everything. We were blessed to escape safely with our dogs and the clothes on our backs.
The old saying, “it takes a village,” has never felt more true. Though we have been shaken and bruised, the outpouring of love and support from individuals, organizations, and community groups has reminded us of the strength and compassion that make our hometown so special.
My note of thanks comes later than I intended. Just two short weeks after the fire, my brother passed away unexpectedly. It was another heartbreaking blow—but once again, our community surrounded us with kindness, comfort, and care. You showed up for us then, just as you have every step of the way.
We have now settled into a temporary home, and while life looks very different than it did six weeks ago, we continue to feel your love and generosity in everything you have done for us. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
As we move forward into the season of miracles and the joy of Christmas draws near, we are reminded every day of how blessed we are to belong to such a remarkable community.
