Bradley Okelly representing Bestlife Homes and Lionston Holdings was before Huntsville Council at its January 29 meeting.
Okelly said he noticed the new Ontario Northland bus stop on Huntsville’s main street and “contemplating the forthcoming challenges of winter I recognized the importance of providing adequate shelter to the people who are travelling…” He told council he approached the leadership team for Lionston Holdings and Bestlife Homes and proposed a donation.”
Okelly said the team accepted the proposal because “as they are deeply committed to the community welfare, they seized the opportunity…”
The company will pour the concrete pad and build the shelter, said Okelly. Prompted by a question from Councillor Dione Schumacher, Okelly confirmed that it would be accessible.

Huntsville Mayor Nancy Alcock referred to the donation as “remarkable,” and thanked the donors.
Councillor Jason FitzGerald thanked Okelly for “taking the time to notice and taking the time to care in our community. Hopefully we can challenge a bunch of other businesses to do the same thing,” he said while the Mayor nodded. “A lot of budget restraints, and issues we’re having, so thanks again for your efforts,” he added.
Okelly said the bus shelter would be their first donation and said the business entities would be willing to help out the community, in other parts of Muskoka as well, if needed.
Council accepted the donation. Municipal staff will be working with the donors and said they would be returning to council with a report.

Thank you Bradley Okelly!
This world needs more people like you.
The businesses that give back to their community deserve the thanks from its residents. In turn the community needs to remember these businesses and continue to support them. Thanks to GoodLife Homes andLionston Holdings. A great example of community has been set. Hoping others can step up and do the same!
Thank you for this very meaningful contribution to the Town. Such public infrastructure, including public washrooms, makes for a more caring, liveable community, and this shelter will also encourage use of public transport.
Every bus stop in town should have an accessible shelter and I hope other big hearted businesses or charitable organizations or individuals will make similar contributions.
On behalf of all bus riders, I appreciate this donation very much. Thank you!!
Congratulations to private industry for doing a job they should never have had to do in the first place.
Thanks!
