It seems to be two steps forward and one step back for Hydro crews trying to restore power to those without electricity in the Huntsville area.
This morning there were roughly 4,500 customers without power compared to about 3,888 customers two days ago, according to Hydro One spokesperson Tiziana Baccega Rosa. That’s because mother nature dumped a bunch of wet snow, which caused more outages due to more downed trees and broken branches landing on lines. Helicopters brought in to help determine problems in the network, paticularly in heavily treed areas and island properties, had to be grounded.
Restoration efforts have been taking place around the clock, said Beccega Rosa. More enforcements have also been brought in to give crews required rest periods.
With warmer weather expected and possible rain, additonal branches falling will pose a challenge. “It may result in additional outages,” she said, adding that restoraition priority is being given to year-round residences and seasonal and island properties will follow.
Reinforcement crews will remain “until it’s done,” she said.
