A Port Sydney woman has been fined and prohibited from driving after pleading guilty to impaired driving in a Bracebridge courtroom.
Karen Skipworth, 78, entered the plea in connection with a November 20, 2024 collision on West Road in Huntsville.
Court heard that at approximately 8:04 p.m., Huntsville OPP were called to a crash after witnesses reported a vehicle mounting a curb, crossing both lanes of traffic, entering a neighbour’s yard, and striking a parked vehicle.
When officers arrived, Skipworth admitted to consuming alcohol before driving, court was told. Subsequent breath tests showed a blood alcohol concentration of 187 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood — more than twice the legal limit.
Skipworth was sentenced to a $2,500 fine, a one-year driving ban, and 12 months of probation.
