Poppy campaign begins October 28

It’s that time of year again. Huntsville Royal Canadian Legion Branch 232 kicked-off its annual poppy campaign, which officially begins October 28, by handing out poppies to Huntsville council and pinning the mayor at its October 24 meeting.

The annual poppy campaign helps raise funds to support veterans and their families with things like medical expenses, veterans comfort care, bursaries for veteran family members as well as veteran care centres. The campaign begins October 28 and ends with a ceremony and laying of wreaths at the Legion cenotaph on November 11, Remembrance Day. Huntsville Mayor Scott Aitchison also gave the Legion a cheque for $250 for the wreath that will be placed on the cenotaph on Remembrance Day on behalf of the Town.
