Planned Hydro One power outage on March 1 and 4 in Lake of Bays

Two planned power outages will take place in the Township of Lake of Bays on Sunday, March 1, 2026, and Wednesday, March 4, 2026.

Hydro One will turn off power so crews can safely complete maintenance on local equipment. This work helps keep the system safe and reduces the chance of longer unplanned outages in the future.

Outage Details

  • Sunday, March 1, 2026, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Northern part of Lake of Bays, about 1,924 customers affected
  • Wednesday, March 4, 2026, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Port Cunnington area, about 346 customers affected

How to Prepare for the Planned Outage

  • Ensure appliances, such as stoves, are in the off position.
  • Fully charge cellphones and other necessary devices.
  • Use a battery‑powered alarm clock or cellphone for wake-up alarms.
  • Keep refrigerator and freezer doors closed as much as possible; use a cooler with ice for items needed during the outage.
  • If water service may be affected, fill containers with water for drinking and cooking.
  • If using a generator, operate it outdoors in a dry area, away from open windows, doors, and vents. Visit the Electrical Safety Authority at esasafe.com for more safety tips.
