OPP nab another driver for allegedly driving impaired

On Saturday, January 31, 2026, Huntsville OPP were on general patrol in the Town of Huntsville when they observed an orange Toyota pick-up truck travelling on West Road. The vehicle caught the officers’ attention as it swerved from lane to lane. The truck was being operated erratically, even hitting a snowbank along the roadway.

Upon stopping the vehicle, officers spoke with the driver and detected an odour of alcohol on the driver’s breath. The driver subsequently failed a breathalyzer test.

As a result of the investigation, police have charged Jackson WATT, 29-years-old of Huntsville, Ontario, with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

The accused was released from custody with a court date of February 24th, 2026, at 9:00 a.m., at the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge, Ontario.

The accused was also issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR IMPAIRED DRIVING.

These events could have easily been avoided had the drivers planned ahead before consuming alcohol or drugs. Don’t include alcohol or drugs in any plans to drive. Instead, arrange for a designated driver, take a taxi or public transit, or come up with another option that takes driving out of the picture altogether.

If you suspect impaired driving, please call 911. Keep our roads safe!
