Ontario Works cheques not being mailed due to possible postal disruption

Due to a possible postal disruption, the District has stopped mailing social assistance cheques effective last Friday, September 21, 2018. Instead, cheques will be available for pick-up from District Community Services offices on an interim basis.

Cheques will be available as of Wednesday, September 26, 2018 after 1:00 p.m. at the following locations:

  • 141 Main Street, Gravenhurst (District of Muskoka Community Services Office)
  • 70 Pine Street, Bracebridge (District of Muskoka Community Services Office)
  • 1 King William Street, Unit #5, Huntsville (District of Muskoka Community Services Office)

Hours of Operation:

All of the above offices open at 8:30 a.m. and close at 4:30 p.m. daily.

Please note that the September dental benefit eligibility cards will remain valid until October 31st for Ontario Works clients.

    Why the heck is OW still mailing cheques? ODSP does direct deposit, has for years. Prevents hardship due to postal strikes, and saves trees!
