Novar resident winds up in ditch and gets charged with driving impaired

A single-vehicle collision near Emsdale has led to impaired driving-related charges for a Novar resident.

On Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at approximately 5:15 p.m., the Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Parry Sound District Emergency Medical Services responded to a report of a vehicle in the ditch on Star Lake Road.

Police conducted an investigation and formed grounds to believe the driver had consumed alcohol. The individual was arrested and transported to the Burk’s Falls OPP detachment, where they were lawfully required to provide breath samples. The driver declined to comply with the demand.

As a result of the investigation, Brock SARGINSON, 35 years-of-age from Novar, has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sundridge on December 18, 2025. Additionally, they received a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
