North Carolina man arrested for driving at triple the legal limit in Muskoka

Samuel Erickson, 25, of North Carolina, appeared recently in a Bracebridge courtroom to plead guilty to driving with over 80 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood.

Court heard that on June 30, 2025, at approximately 2:03 p.m., OPP officers were called by EMS to a parking lot on Maple Street in the Township of Muskoka Lakes. When police arrived, they found Erickson outside his vehicle. EMS personnel reported he had been slumped over the wheel when they first arrived.

According to witnesses, Erickson had reversed out of a parking spot and struck another vehicle before pulling back into the spot. A breath test later returned a reading of 247 mg of alcohol.

Erickson was fined $2,000 and received a one-year driving prohibition.
