The finalists have been named, the wildcard entry has been chosen, and the performers are busy putting the finishing touches on their acts. And when they take to the stage for the third annual Huntsville’s Got Talent on Saturday night (February 2), a great show is guaranteed.

Community Living Huntsville (CLH), which is the beneficiary of the event and this year took over the task of organizing it from creator Drew Markham, announced the finalists and wildcard entry, chosen by online popular vote, earlier this month. The nine finalists, in alphabetical order by first name, are: Briar Summers, The Hillbirds, Holly Ballantine, Jack & Josie, Jessica Ryan, Leah Church, Luke Asher Murphy, Rob Attfield, and Zack Fitzsimmons. (See their audition videos here.)

They will be joined onstage by one Young Star to round out the field to 10 competitors. The Young Star competition, which will be held at 1:00 p.m. on February 2 and can be attended by donation to Community Living Huntsville, is a new addition to the event this year. Each of the Young Star competitors will receive individual, one-on-one feedback from the judges, with the winner advancing to the evening show.

The Young Stars performers are: Bella Garnett, Caleb Houser, Emma McLellan, Nyiah Blacklock, Simeon Busse, Toni Jacobs, and We Dem Boys (Noah B and Willie D). (See their audition videos here.)

“This is the third year for Huntsville’s Got Talent and it’s been a privilege to be the recipients of the proceeds,” said Suzanne Willett, CLH manager of supports and services when the finalists were announced. “Funds raised at the event go towards our newly launched Pathways program which assists youth who are not eligible for our government-funded supports and services.”

There are still some tickets available for the evening performance at the Algonquin Theatre box office or online here. The show has sold out prior to the event for the last two years. Organizers suggest purchasing your ticket early to avoid disappointment—fire regulations don’t allow for more attendees than seats available.

Amazing show! It seems to get better each year; outstanding talent, and outstanding judges. And IMHO, they got it right: first, second, third; in that order. It was especially noteworthy that the overall winner, Rob Attfield, donated his $1000 prize to Community Living Huntsville. I only wish that Zack Fitzsimmons, the charming crowd favourite, could have received a special trophy for “engaging the crowd” (the most often encouraging criticism from the judges).
