Muskoka Victim Services needs volunteer crisis responders

Muskoka Victim Services has immediate opportunities for Volunteer Crisis Responders, who respond to Emergency Services – police, fire and EMS – to offer trauma and practical support to victims of crime and tragic circumstance.

No experience is necessary – flexible online training (40 hours) and one day of practical training are provided, as are full certification and mentorship.

Intensive initial and ongoing volunteer training includes support for victims of homicide, attempted murder, assault, sexual assault, domestic violence or hate crimes. Volunteers learn about grief and bereavement, death notification, property crimes and community services, and make referrals as needed.

Volunteer Crisis Responders are required to commit to three 12-hour, on-call shifts per month.

Muskoka Victim Services is a non-profit community based organization that provides immediate and confidential onsite crisis intervention, 24 hours a day, 365 days per year.
