Muskoka Soccer Roundup

There were several hat tricks by Muskoka players last week in Huronia District Soccer League and Ontario I-Model action combined. 

There were also several bye weeks on the calendar.

The U14 Girls were knocked out of the Huronia District Soccer League Cup after falling 2-1 to Barrie on August 6. Lochlann Menard scored the lone Muskoka United Football Club tally. Muskoka travelled to North Bay on August 13 for a league match-up as they try to keep their lead atop the standings.

The U12 girls picked up a huge win on August 6, 5-0 away against Orillia. Poppy Moyer had a hat trick with Greer Wilson and Gina Willett scoring the other goals. Their next game is in North Bay on August 13.

The Over-45 Men’s team moved into top spot with a 5-3 away win over Innisfil on August 8. Brendan Rasmussen scored a hat trick with Graham Thompson and Biagio Iannantuono adding the other Muskoka goals. Rasmussen is tied for the league goal-scoring lead with seven goals.

Muskoka plays the Barrie Masters at Gostick Park Wednesday night in a must-win match-up at the top of the league standings.

These following teams all had bye weeks last week. 

The U15 Girls, playing in a U16 division, travels for an August 16 match at Collingwood.

The U11 Girls had a game on August 11 against Bradford Wolves, but the result was not known at the time of this writing. Their next game is on August 18 at Pollington Field in Huntsville against Barrie.

The U9 Girls and U14 Boys each travelled to North Bay for games on August 12.

The U12 Boys played their next match on August 12 at Pollington Field against North Bay.

The U11 Boys next games is on August 14 away to Innisfil.

The U10 Boys took on Orillia on August 11 in Huntsville, but the result was unknown at the time of this writing.

The U9 Boys next two matches are both at Pollington Field – August 13 against North Bay and August 17 against Sudbury.

I-Model Teams

The U17 Boys were undone by several injuries suffered in their run to the Champions Showcase final and fell by a scored of 5-1 at IFC in Thornhill in I-Model C2 Division action on August 7. Al Wilson netted the lone MUFC tally. 

The team is on a bye week but are next in action at Gostick Park on August 21 against Bryst Academy. Kick off is 9 p.m.

The U15 Boys won their August 6 I-Model C3 Division game 5-2 over Thornhill at Gostick Park. Kyliam Coulombe had a hat trick and Callum Leese scored twice in the win.

Their next match is on August 13 away to Bradford Wolves.

Huntsville Adult Co-ed League

With the regular season winding down for the Huntsville Adult Co-Ed League, there is a two-way race for the number 1 seed in the playoffs between the Red Team and the Green Team.

The two fought to a 2-2 draw on Matchday 8 as Red kept their two-point lead atop the standings. In the other match, the Blue Team beat the White Team 3-2 to move into third place by one point.

The Golden Boot race for top goal scorer is also very close with Rowan Simpson leading the way on eight goals. Zach Caplan (7), Leigh Cameron (5), and Yeuheni Mykhailevskyi (5) aren’t far behind.

Matchday 9 features Green vs Blue and White vs Red at the McCulley Robertson Sports Complex south fields on Thursday, August 14. Kick off is 7:15 p.m.
