The Muskoka United Football Club (MUFC) U14 Boys were the last team from Muskoka to finish their season, winning their final match in Aliston 2-1 over South Simcoe United. Avery Chaplin and Alexandr Dunaenko scored the Muskoka goals in the victory.
The result meant a .500 season for the U14 Boys where they had 6 wins, 6 losses, and 2 ties.
Last Tuesday, they dropped a 2-1 away game to Barrie with Alexandr Dunaenko netting the lone Muskoka goal. The game was tied 1-1 when Barrie got a home-field bounce off a corner kick late to get the victory.
The team will now take the winter to regroup and get set for next year where they will aim for an even better finish.
Woodbridge Classic
The U17 Boys, along with a handful of U15 Boys playing up a couple of age groups, travelled to the Woodbridge Classic tournament this weekend.
Though the Muskoka boys fought really hard in each match, the results just didn’t go their way.
They fell 1-0 on a late penalty kick to Markham, lost to a very good Woodbridge team 4-0, and then gave up a pair of late goals against Caledon in a 3-1 defeat.
This was the final match of their summer season as they now will take a break before ramping things up as half the team will compete in the Provincial Indoor Soccer League 6 vs. 6 division this winter.
This is the last weekly soccer round-up of the summer season.
With two Muskoka teams competing in the PISL this winter, Doppler will continue to have regular updates once those seasons get started.
