December is rapidly approaching, and with it will come the much-anticipated seasonal performance by Huntsville’s Muskoka Rock Choir. After seven seasons in Huntsville, audiences have learned to look forward with anticipation to the next offering of rock music and thought-provoking comedy performed by more than 70 talented voices in four-part harmony with the some of the biggest names in music in Muskoka.
The December 5th concert will include many hits from such well-known groups as The Human League, U2, The Police, The Eurythmics, Joan Osborne, Elton John, Adele, Kate Bush, Amy Winehouse and Bonnie Tyler, to name a few.
The Muskoka Rock Choir Band is Sean Cotton as band leader and on lead and rhythm guitar; Michael “Lopez” Phillips on bass guitar; Shon Roper on drums; Sarah Spring on piano; and Sherisse Stevens and Gina Horsworth as featured vocalists. It is a talent packed show that will raise the roof beams high at the Algonquin Theatre.
Ian Crowley has been leading the Muskoka Rock Choir over the past seven seasons. Under his fast-paced and hilarious leadership the choir has grown by many faces every season. Each Tuesday night the choir enjoys not only singing and learning, but also a time of fellowship and friendships. Every season the bonds of friendships grow and strengthen among fellow choristas.
The Muskoka Rock Choir accepts people of all talents and abilities. Each week’s practice is full of fun and camaraderie, and for many is a highlight of their week. For some it is the first opportunity to sing with a choir or to perform on a stage. It is also an opportunity to showcase and support talented local musicians who make up the accompanying band.
Don’t You Want Me, Baby? is a show about attraction. It examines what makes us attractive and why we are more attracted to some things than others. It will be an informative but hilarious look at the idea of attraction in our society, presented in a rock choral setting, with a comic narrative punctuated by featured performances. A night not to missed!
Catch it at the Algonquin Theatre for one night only, Saturday, December 5, 2015, at 7:30 pm. Tickets are available at the Algonquin Theatre Box Office from Wednesday through Saturday from 12:00 to 4:00pm, via phone at 705 789 4975, or online at www.algonquintheatre.ca.
