MEDIA RELEASE
The District Municipality of Muskoka (District) is pleased to announce that the Muskoka Extended Transit (The MET) is back on the road after a summer break. The MET is a piloted transportation project funded by the Ministry of Transportation until March 2017 The transit service uses school buses to bring people living in rural areas to main towns. The cost of ridership is $3 one way or $5 return with discounted rates available for youth, children and preschoolers.
“In year two our focus is to raise awareness of this important transporation service and ensure residents are aware of the many locations and services they access by travelling to town using the MET,” says Rick Williams, Commissioner of Community Services at the District Municipality of Muskoka. “This fall we will also engage residents in each of the communities where the service is available to collect input on how the transportation service can meet their unique needs.”
The MET uses school buses during the day and there are currently eight routes throughout Muskoka:
Route 1 – Dorset/Dwight to Huntsville (travels weekly on Tuesdays)
Route 2 – Baysville to Huntsville (travels weekly on Tuesdays)
