While cooler and more seasonable temperatures are expected to return early this week, the Muskoka area and other parts of Ontario broke fall heat records over the weekend.
It felt like a weekend in July, except for the vibrant fall colours nearing their peak.
According to Environment Canada, the Muskoka area broke the record by 2.5°C, reaching a high of 30.3°C compared to 27.8 °C in 1946. Records have been kept since 1875.
The Lake of Two Rivers area of Algonquin Park also saw a new record of 28.8°C compared to
27.0°C in 2005, with records kept since 1917.
