A 34-year-old Huntsville man has been fined and prohibited from driving after pleading guilty in a Bracebridge courtroom to impaired driving.
Chris Dowdy pleaded guilty to operating a motor vehicle with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood in his system.
Court heard that on Dec. 12, 2025, at approximately 10 p.m., members of the Ontario Provincial Police in Huntsville responded to a motor vehicle collision. Police determined that a driver had struck the vehicle in front of him before leaving the scene.
Officers were able to locate the driver, identified as Dowdy, who admitted to consuming alcohol.
A breath test later revealed he had 110 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood in his system — above the legal limit.
Dowdy was sentenced to a $1,000 fine and handed a 12-month driving prohibition.
