The 2017-2018 swim season is underway for the Muskoka Aquatic Club (MUSAC). They fielded a team of 40 swimmers who travelled together to Brantford from December 15-17 to compete in the Ontario Division II Team Championships.

In the same weekend, for the first time ever, two MUSAC qualifying swimmers — Samuel Kuntz and Ally Goldring — attended the Ontario Junior Internationals in Toronto.

MUSAC had a very busy, fun-filled, and successful weekend at the Team Championships with team members earning best times, achieving qualification standards and breaking several club records. The men’s team for MUSAC placed second overall, and the team is proud to announce that they placed third of 25 teams and secured a spot in Division II. Congrats MUSAC!

The Ontario Junior Internationals meet brought experienced swimmers to Canada to provide stronger competition. MUSAC swimmers Sam Kuntz and Ally Goldring qualified for this elite event in which swimmers 18 and younger competed against all ages in each event.

Ally being only 15 was challenged by competitors with three more years of experience behind them but that did not stop her from performing at her best. Ally’s best result was in the 200M Breast Stroke, where she placed 22nd. Sam’s best results came in both the 100M and 200M Back Stroke, making the A Finals. He placed 7th and 8th overall.

The future of swimming is bright in Muskoka!
