MUSAC brings home over 40 medals in 2016 Division II Team Championships

Muskoka Aquatic Club’s (MUSAC) Janet Markham called it. She said the club’s trip to the 2016 Division II Team Championship meet in Brantford December 16-18 “could possibly be the best results ever!” She was right. Forty swimmers travelled to the competition and came home with huge results as they placed second out of 21 teams and only a mere 45.5 points behind the first-place Collingwood Clippers SC. MUSAC brought home more than 40 medals in total.

“The success at this meet was attributed to the club’s ability to field entries across most of the events,” said Markham. The team that traveled to Brantford was comprised of athletes ranging in age from 9-20 with a good balance of boys and girls to be entered as relay teams.

Both the boys and the girls 10-and-under relay teams finished second! Amazing! And the highlight of the meet came in the final event on Sunday night, when both the boys and girls 17-and-over medley relay teams won!

Extreme effort and determination was shown this weekend by all members. Their hard work and dedication paid off as this weekend was full of personal bests as many swimmers achieved qualifying times that will now allow them to compete in higher-level meets later in the season.

Congratulations on great accomplishments for a small-town club with big time talent!

The Muskoka Aquatic Club is composed of swimmers from all around Muskoka and offers an athlete-centered, coach-directed endurance and skills based program for all levels of swimmers. MUSAC instills a strong work ethic, encourages team members to build their own self-confidence and to set personal goals for themselves.
