Salvation Army Christmas

More than 28 tons of food collected in Project Porchlight Food Drive

The Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire Department would like to extend an ever-special, warm heart-filled THANK YOU to everyone in the community who donated and made the 27th Annual Salvation Army Project Porchlight Food Drive a huge success.

We would also like to thank all the community members who went to great lengths to collect and sort the food.

“Over 28 tons of food was collected in a little over three hours,” explained Fire Chief Stephen Hernen. “We could not do this without the help of our community partners. It is truly amazing to see the support from them each year and the support from our community.”

Our apologies go out to any homes that we may have missed that night, but we would like to remind everyone that non-perishable food items can still be dropped off at the Salvation Army Church on Mary St. East and at Fire Station #1 on Payne Drive. If you are not able to drop it off, please call the fire station at 705-789-5201 and we would be more than happy to pick the items up.

On behalf of the Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire Department we would like to wish everyone a happy holiday and thank everyone who helped with Project Porchlight!
