Plus, Muskoka results from the past seven days
The Huntsville High School Hoyas boys’ and girls’ soccer teams competed at their respective OFSAA (Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations) provincial championship tournaments this week.
Though both teams were eliminated after round-robin play on Thursday and Friday, they did show up with good efforts and attitudes to represent our community well.
The boys were in our nation’s capital and posted one win, one draw, and two losses. Their only goals came from Johnny Fiorini in their 2-0 win over L’école Secondaire Catholique Paul-Desmarais.
Parents who attended OFSAA said the boys played hard but were up against a tough group with a couple of really strong teams.
The girls finished with one win and three losses at the tournament in Kingston. After a tough opening day where they didn’t score a goal, the Hoyas picked up a 2-0 over St. Patrick Catholic SS on Friday and fought hard before falling 4-2 against Denis Morris HS, which ended up advancing to the provincial final.
Maisy Moore scored both goals and Norah Moeller got the clean sheet in goal in the win. Andi Stevenson scored in the loss to Denis Morris.
