The Mayor and the 2016 Mayor’s Charity Golf Tournament Committee are pleased to announce that the 2016 Mayor’s Golf Tournament raised $49,525.00 for three Huntsville healthcare organizations. A reception was held Monday, December 12 where Mayor Scott Aitchison presented cheques to the Huntsville Hospital Foundation, Community Living Huntsville, and Christine’s Place.
The Mayor joined by the Tournament Committee thanked the community for their participation. “We are so pleased to be here today to present cheques to three essential healthcare organizations in Huntsville. This wouldn’t have been possible without the support of our very generous sponsors Devonleigh Homes, Muskoka Lumber, Lovegrove Construction, Tulloch Engineering, Greystone Construction, Cayman Marshall Realty, and Fowler Construction, and the commitment and participation from residents and the business community. Thank you for continuing to give back to healthy living in our community.”
“Christine’s Place is so grateful for the tremendous financial support and encouragement resulting from the Mayor’s Golf Tournament. The funds received will allow us to continue to provide practical and compassionate assistance to individuals challenged by an unplanned pregnancy, and to educate and strengthen families in our region. We were honoured to be part of this event along with the Huntsville Hospital Foundation and Community Living. Together these three organizations help provide essential pieces of the local healthcare safety net,” said Dr. Laura Lewis, managing director of Christine’s Place
We were so pleased with the Mayor’s Golf tournament, its organizers, the mayor, and the attendees. Working with our fellow recipients at Christine’s Place and Community Living Huntsville was very rewarding as well. Healthcare needs support now more than ever and we truly appreciate the community’s response through the Mayor’s Golf Tournament. The funds that are raised through the community are put towards replacing equipment. Donations ensure that hospital staff and physicians have the tools they need to best serve the community and to help the hospital recruit the best providers to the healthcare team. Thank you!
Katherine Craine, Executive Director, Huntsville Hospital Foundation
“Community Living Huntsville is honoured to be chosen as one of the recipients of the 2016 Mayor’s Golf Tournament. Knowing that we have the support of our mayor, council, and community behind us makes the task of fundraising to launch new programming more achievable. We are so excited to be closer to the opportunity of offering services to those who are falling through the cracks in our community,” said Cathy Stroud, Executive Director, Community Living Huntsville
The Mayor’s Golf Tournament was held September 15, 2016 at the Clublink Mark O’Meara Golf Course with 114 participants. Organizers of the tournament are looking forward to next year’s event to be hosted again at the Mark O’Meara Golf Course with details on the 2017 tournament to be announced at a later date.
