Main Street joy ride leads to charges

At approximately 10:30PM on October 5, 2016 while patrolling Main Street in Huntsville, members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed what appeared to be a homemade dune buggy travelling westbound on Main Street Huntsville. The vehicle had three occupants one sitting on the hood holding the vehicle’s frame.

Police attempted to conduct a traffic stop of the vehicle when the driver ignored and sped by police leading them through town. The driver lost control and come to a stop on Centre Street.

The vehicle operator identified as Malcolm MALLOY, 24 years, was arrested and charged with the following offences:

– Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
– Flight while pursued by police
– Operating an unsafe motor vehicle
– Operating a motor vehicle with no insurance
– Driving while under suspension

The accused is to appear in the Ontario court of Justice in Huntsville on Wednesday November 2, 2016 to answer to the charges.
