Local injury firm donates bike helmets to kids in support of brain injury awareness month

Will Davidson LLP and the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association (OTLA) with its partners provided bike helmets to local schoolchildren at VK Greer Memorial Public School. The event included a presentation on bike helmet safety and the giveaway of bike helmets for all kids in attendance. This is the second year local lawyer Annette Casullo has presented to local school kids alongside members of the community including Arden McGregor from Brain Works.

The Ontario Ministry of Health reports that during 2006-2010, 93.75 per cent of cyclists under the age of 18 who were killed in cycling collisions were not wearing a helmet.

The Helmets on Kids campaign seeks to put a helmet on the head of every child who needs one.

The program, initiated in the London area in 2002, was started as a joint project of OTLA members and of the Brain Injury Association of London and Region (BIALR), and presented helmets to students of the Thames Valley District School Board. Since its inception, the Helmets on Kids campaign has expanded to numerous regions across the province and has presented over 30,000 helmets to children in need.
