Wyatt Fisher and Jackson MacDougall aren’t just friends. They play hockey together and they share the same birthday. For this year’s important 10th birthday, they hosted a hockey shinny party at the arena in Baysville and asked their 40 guests to make donations for their chosen charity, Canadian Tire’s Jumpstart program, instead of bringing gifts. They wanted the money to stay local and perhaps help some of their friends play sports, too.
By the end of the night, the boys had raised $670, including a $150 donation from their hockey coach, Ian MacKinnon, who redirected a recognition of service award he received from his employer to support the boys’ efforts.
On Tuesday, November 22, they presented the funds to Canadian Tire Huntsville owner Ian McEwen.
Wyatt and Jackson want other local kids to know that every little bit helps and no amount is too small to make a difference.
