Library encourages everyone to #Readfor15Muskoka on Family Literacy Day

Libraries across Muskoka are reaching out to encourage our communities to read for 15 minutes on January 25, 2019 and celebrate Family Literacy Day. Muskoka public libraries want to join the Read for 15 challenge with the goal to promote the importance of literacy in our communities. And we may even be the most ‘readerly’ libraries in the province.

“Literacy is truly the foundation for the development of skills in other areas,” shares Huntsville Public Library Youth Services Librarian Amber McNair. “#Readfor15 and Family Literacy Day encourages everyone to take a few minutes a day to read, either independently or together.”

Participation in the Read for 15 Challenge is easy. After you finish your 15 minutes of reading your chosen material, let your library know by either:

  • Tweeting with the hashtag #Readfor15Muskoka and your local library’s Twitter handle.
  • Posting a picture using the hashtag #Readfor15Muskoka on Facebook or Instagram and tag local library hashtag
  • Contacting your Library and they will add your reading to the tally.

We cannot wait to “read for 15” with you on Family Literacy Day!
