Leighla’s Love Bags bring comfort to women who have miscarried

When Marly Lahn was frustrated with the lack of support in Muskoka for women going through miscarriage, she knew she had to do something to help.

Although Lahn’s angel baby was never named, after falling in love with the name Leighla she learned that it meant “Guardian Angel” and knew it was perfect for her project, Leighla’s Love Bags.

After Googling ‘miscarriage support packages’ and finding a company in the states that provided love and comfort during and after miscarriage, Lahn was inspired to bring the same initiative to Muskoka.

“I want these packages to give moms and dads comfort when going through a hard time. Even though this isn’t much, I want them to know someone is thinking of them,” said Lahn.

After her miscarriage in November of last year, Lahn felt alone and scared of what happens to other women going through the same trauma as her.

“Even though one in four pregnancies end in miscarriage, the doctors don’t even warn you about what will happen to your body after it happens,” said Lahn “I don’t want anyone to feel like no one is advocating and supporting them. I am here to support you.”

Although the initiative just started in early April, Lahn has already made and given 21 love bags to women experiencing a miscarriage.

Each love bag includes:

  • journal
  • handmade bracelet
  • pen
  • hand sanitizer
  • handmade angel key chain
  • poems
  • chocolate
  • tea
  • rose quarts stone
  • lip calm
  • pregnancy and infant loss awareness ribbons
  • angel pin
  • stuffed animal
  • activity book
  • at home care/advice package
  • angel figurine.

To reach out and request a package for either yourself or a loved one, please visit todayisgreat.wixsite.com/leighlaslove and click “Request Package” to fill out a form. After a request form is submitted, Lahn starts making the package straight away.

So far, Lahn is buying all of the love bag supplies herself but is accepting both cash and items from the love bag list as donations.

To inquire about donating to the cause, email Marly at [email protected].

What a wonderful idea…my daughter lost several babies and few people realize the long lasting emotional pain of miscarriage. Thank you.
