If you missed the two Canada 150 quilting sessions hosted in March by local quilters Mary Spring and Terri Howell, you have one more chance to create a square for quilt. No sewing experience is required – they’ll help anyone learn how.
On Sunday, April 30, head to The Annex at the Huntsville Public Library between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. for the final sewing day for the quilt. All materials will be provided.
The project is thanks to a District of Muskoka Pay It Forward grant. By the end of the day on Sunday, Spring and Howell hope to have enough squares to create two quilts.
The pair and other volunteers will sew sashing between the rows of squares to complete the quilt tops. Then it will to to Libby Duncan, a quilter from Dwight, who will complete the quilt using a long-arm sewing machine. The quilt or quilts will likely be unveiled by the end of May.
