Keepin’ it green at the Santa Claus Parade

The Santa Claus Parade is tonight (November 24) and among the floats is a special team dedicated to keeping it green.

The Green Team will be walking the parade route to collect all the recycling and waste generated during the parade.

Not just a waste disposal group, the Green Team is all about awareness of the importance to divert garbage from landfills. And it seems to be working. In its first year, team members gathered nine bags of garbage; in 2016, that was down to four.

Watch for the Green Team as they make their way down the parade route and drop in your coffee cups and other disposables. If you’re not quite done your beverage when they pass by, you can also stop by Sustain Eco Store, the parade’s mid-way recycling depot. Or bring a reusable mug and just wave to the Green Team as they go by.
