It’s Wayback Wednesday: Field of green, part two

Welcome to Wayback Wednesday sponsored by Cavalcade Color Lab! Every week, we’ll be sharing a vintage photo and asking our readers to chime in with anything you can recall about the photo, other related memories, or even a funny caption. Have some vintage photos of your own? Send them to [email protected] and we may share them with our readers!

Last week, we asked you to tell us where the soccer field in the photo below (taken last year) is and what used to take place there. This week, we’re sharing a photo of a team that played on that field. Can you tell us the year or what the occasion is? Do you recognize any of the players? (Photo courtesy of Glen Duffield.)

Last week we shared this photo with you:

This field is at the former German Canadian Club off Brunel Road. The club had purchased the property in the 1960s and a building for social events was constructed in the early 1970s. The adjacent field was host to many soccer and field lacrosse games for the next 30 years. The club sold the property in 2008 after membership declined. The building there, a social hub for the local German-Canadian community for decades, was destroyed by fire in 2014.
