Immitation firearm leads to police lockdown in Gravenhurst

The Bracebridge Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a concern about a weapon at an address near Bay Street in Gravenhurst.

On January 28, 2026, at 5:30 p.m., Bracebridge OPP officers responded to a report from a member of the public on Bay Street in Gravenhurst that they believed a person had pointed a firearm at the street from an apartment near Bay Street and Muskoka Road South.

In the interest of public safety, police closed the nearby roads and conducted an investigation into the matter. The involved individual was determined to be a youth and was playing with an imitation firearm. The youth and their family were co-operative and reflective and the area was soon re-opened to traffic and cleared.
