Road work on both sides of Highway 11 just south of Huntsville, which started in late July, is expected to be completed sometime in November 2017 although work will shut down completely during the winter months.
The road rehabilitation project covers approximately 12 kilometres of road from South Mary Lake Road to the North Muskoka River Bridge at a price tag of $16.3 Million. The contract went to lowest bidder WSP Canada, which is handling the design component of the project, and Fowler Construction which is looking after the build.
“So we’re going down to the gravel and we’re regrading it and repaving it,” explained the MTO’s Gordan Rennie. He also said there’ll be some culvert and drainage work involved as well as the reinstallation of the guard rails.
Motorists are required to reduce their speed while driving through a construction site and drive with caution.
