Huntsville OPP charge youth for uttering threat in school

The Huntsville Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police is investigating after a threat was made at the local high school.

On February 19, 2026, officers from the Huntsville OPP were made aware that a student had made a comment to several peers about wanting to cause harm.

In partnership with the Trillium Lakelands District School Board and the school, the OPP participated in an assessment of the student, their comments, and any potential risk.

As a result of the investigation, a 14-year-old student, who cannot be named due to the provisions under the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA), has been arrested and charged with uttering a threat. The youth will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge, Ontario, at a future date.

It is important to note that this is an isolated incident and there is no concern for public safety.
