Ebenezer Scrooge comes to the Studio Theatre

Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol has been a holiday staple since its publication in 1843, with several play and movie adaptations along the way. The Huntsville Theatre Company is proud to present another adaption by William Colgate and directed by Joan Bendon this month. Both Colgate and Bendon are professionals in the theatre business and have brought this production to a whole new level.

“Believe it or not, there are still people unfamiliar with the story of A Christmas Carol, so we take it as a great responsibility to make sure that their introduction to this truly timeless classic is one they won’t forget,” said Colgate. “Will those who know and cherish the story recognize it in our production? Definitely. Does A Christmas Carol need another production? Dicken’s tale of the redemption of Ebenezer Scrooge is one for the ages and, as far as I’m concerned, it can’t be told enough.”

The cast’s commitment and the unbridled enthusiasm at each and every rehearsal has made directing this production a joy for Bendon.

“They have evolved over the past few months into a potent little troupe of players, constantly striving to be better and succeeding beyond my wildest hopes,” said Bendon. “The work has been hard, the hours long, the money non-existent and the glory fleeting. What other reason to do this but for love? I hope what I’ve said indicates what an audience can expect: dedicated lovers of theatre doing what they love to do.”

A Christmas Carol runs from December 16-23, 2017 with both evening and matinee shows available. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased online at www.huntsvilletheatre.org or at Treasures And Trophies in Huntsville.
