Huntsville OPP release victim names in Ravenscliffe fatal collision and Stubbs Falls rescue

On Wednesday June 20, 2018 at approximately 10:25pm members of the Huntsville Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with Huntsville Fire Department and Muskoka EMS attended the scene of a motor vehicle collision on Ravenscliffe Road in Huntsville.

The 44 year-old woman from Huntsville has been identified as Laura Robinson. Huntsville OPP along with the assistance of OPP Traffic Collision Investigation Unit continue to investigate the cause of the collision.

On June 17, 2018 at around 5:30pm Huntsville Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with Muskoka EMS and Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire Rescue were advised that a female had gone down Stubbs Falls and was caught in the rocks. Stubbs Falls is a popular are for hikers and is located in
Arrowhead Provincial Park, in Huntsvile.

When the emergency services arrived, they found that the female was completely submerged under the water and she was caught under a larger rock. It was learned that she was up further in the falls and had slipped and went down with the fast running water.

The crew was able to pull the female out and was transported to a local area hospital . The 26 year old female from St Catharines ON was then transported to the Orillia Hospital where she remains in critical condition.

Huntsville OPP has since learned that the female had succumbed to her injuries. Angel Lacourse, the 26-year-old from St. Catharines ON, had been camping at Arrowhead Provincial Park for the weekend.
