Huntsville OPP investigate Baysville robbery, youth charged

Update, July 5: As a result of the investigation on July 5, 2016, members of Muskoka Crime Unit along with Huntsville OPP an arrest has been made. A 16 year-old male from Lake of Bays Twp. ON, who cannot be identified according to the Youth Criminal Justice Act has since been charged with Robbery and Disguise with the Intent under the Criminal Code of Canada. The accused was held for a Bail Hearing and a court date is pending.

On Monday July 4, 2016 at 7:12pm members of the Huntsville and Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a robbery at a local business in the Baysville ON area.

According to the victim the suspect wearing a balaclava entered the business brandished a weapon and demanded a quantity of cash. The cash was given to the party who then fled the store. No injuries to the victim were reported.

OPP Emergency Response Team Members as well as a Canine unit attended in an effort to locate the suspect.

Huntsville OPP along with Muskoka Crime Unit is continuing to investigate and are seeking the assistance of the public in locating the suspect. He is described as male 5.5” to 5’7”, slim build.
