The 2016 Huntsville Mayor’s Golf Tournament, held Thursday, September 15 at the Mark O’Meara and Grandview Inn golf courses, was a resounding success, says organizer Myke Malone.
“It was extremely successful. We had a great turnout and it was a perfect day for golf,” said Malone. “We expect to exceed our fundraising target.” Fundraising totals will be announced at a later date.
The beneficiaries of the event are three local healthcare and social services organizations: the Huntsville Hospital Foundation, Christine’s Place and Community Living Huntsville.
All of these organizations are not only crucial but they continuously give so much to our community. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to give back to all of them.Mayor Scott Aitchison, in a pre-event release
“We are fortunate to have the support of the municipality, sponsors, and participants of this tournament,” said Katherine Craine, Executive Director of the Huntsville Hospital Foundation in a pre-event release. “The funds we receive will be put to good use at the hospital. Technology evolves and equipment must be replaced every year and support of this kind ensures our professionals have the tools they need to improve diagnosis, advance treatment and speed recovery.”
Teeing off that day were 120 enthusiastic golfers who were later treated to a three-course dinner at the Grandview Clubhouse.
The event also relies on major sponsors. This year’s presenting sponsor was Devonleigh Homes, gold sponsors were Lovegrove Construction, Tulloch Engineering and Muskoka Lumber, and silver sponsors were Cayman Marshall International Realty and Greystone Project Management.
