Just as Huntsville’s population swells in the summer months, so does use of our local hospital. With a new program, Our Cottage Cares, the Huntsville Hospital Foundation is seeking support from seasonal residents who use the hospital – or may need to in future – during the summer months.
The Foundation notes that emergency room visits double in the summer compared to spring, fall and winter. They created this video to drive that point home:
The Our Cottage Cares program looks for a three year donation commitment from cottagers in one of three amounts: $500 per year, $200 per year or $100 per year. In return, they’ll share the family’s cottage name on their website and, more importantly, use the funds for much-needed equipment at Huntsville Hospital.

HHF is also selling raffle tickets for a commemorative Tom Thomson canoe. Tickets are available at 705-789-4756 or look for the HHF tent around town. (See the poster below.)

Perhaps the Huntsville Hospital should not have closed the Burks Falls Urgent Care, many cottagers received their at the Burks Falls site instead of the ER in Huntsville. A little short sighted I would say.
