This March, Huntsville Festival of the Arts (HfA) is pleased to welcome over 70 students between the ages of 7 and 65 to the first annual Huntsville Festival of Music! The festival takes place on March 2 & 3 at Trinity United Church (33 Main St E), and St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church (1 High St).
“After a two-year postponement due to the COVID Pandemic, the organizing committee is thrilled to finally share this event with the community,” says HfA Executive Director Dan Watson. “The goals are simple: celebrate the great talents, build stronger communities and provide the tools to create a better future for those who participate.”
Participants will perform and receive coaching led by qualified adjudicators in a range of musical categories including piano, solo/duet instrumental, solo voice, choral, and composition classes with genres ranging from classical to contemporary.
Select participants will take part in a public performance, “Concert of the Stars” on March 5 at 2 pm, at Algonquin Theatre. Participants for this event will be chosen on merit (winner of each class) and special consideration. Tickets are now available and cost $25 for general admission/ $10 for youth (plus HST). Purchase online by visiting huntsvillefestival.ca or calling 705-789-4975.
The event is presented by the Huntsville Festival of the Arts with the support of donors including The Huntsville Community Choir, Stephensen District Lion’s Club, Dwight Lions Club, Frances & Gunnar’s Balodis, and the Dorset Lions Club.
Volunteers are needed on March 2 or 3. If you would like to volunteer, please contact [email protected] or call (705) 788-2787. Volunteers must be able to commit to a 4-hour shift (9-noon, 1-5 pm or 6-9 pm).
