Huntsville Curling Club hosts U21 mixed doubles results – Update

Have you heard about the newest Olympic sport? Mixed Doubles Curling!

Bring the whole family to cheer on the U21 Provincial Mixed Doubles Championship and experience an exciting weekend at the Huntsville Curling Club from Friday, March 10 to Sunday, March 12, 2017.

The top sixteen teams in Ontario that have qualified throughout the season will be participating in this Curl ON (Curl Ontario, previously Ontario Curling Association) event as talented youth battle for the right to represent Ontario in the National U21 Mixed Doubles Championship in April in Saskatoon.

The Huntsville Curling Club applied to host the event as a way to bring awareness of the sport to the younger generations in the community. The event should bring many families to the area including curlers, spares, coaches, parents, and grandparents, and it will be making alterations to accommodate spectators. There is no cost to watch the event and there will be home-cooked meals prepared by curling member volunteers to be served throughout the weekend.

Results:

16 teams from all over Ontario competed in the U-21 Mixed Doubles. The final game was played at 6 pm on March 12 at the Huntsville Curling Club. The final game saw the Quinte CC team of Morgan Calwell and Kayla MacMillan meet up with Orillia CC team of John Willsey and Grace Holyoke. The Quinte team was victorious and won the tournament.
