HTC and North Star Entertainment present: ‘DISMISSED’

The Huntsville Theatre Company (HTC) and North Star Entertainment are excited to co-produce the second show in HTC’s 2025/2026 season, ‘Dismissed’!

‘Dismissed’, written by Muskoka playwright Dyanna Jacklin, takes you behind the closed doors of the teacher’s lounge at Central Collegiate Elementary, a world buzzing with drama, heart, and humour. Over the two hectic weeks before the holiday break, five teachers and their principal face it all: a new hire, a sudden firing, a scandalous affair, and an unexpected romance. Filled with laughter, heartbreak, and raw humanity, this play shines a light on the untold stories of educators- their struggles, triumphs, and everything in between. Whether you’ve worked in a school or simply sat in one, ‘Dismissed’ will strike a chord with anyone searching for their place in the world.

“I am thrilled to introduce a seasoned, local, cast that so vividly populates the world of Central Collegiate,” says director Cydney Jones, “Each actor brings a unique spark to this production, ensuring that the ongoing struggles over permanent contracts and bird’s nests are just as entertaining as they are relatable. It is a dynamic ensemble that truly understands that in teaching—and in this play—the most important work happens behind closed doors, when the students aren’t looking.”

The cast of local performers includes Earl Sacrey, Karen Thorn, Sarah Vanasse, Alberta Robinet, Matt Huddlestone and Rachel Thompson.

‘Dismissed’ will take place at the Algonquin Theatre (37 Main St E, Huntsville) from Feb 12th-14th at 7:30pm with a 2pm matinee also on Feb 14th. Sponsored by Sound Youth Counselling. There is also a special dining deal with Mill on Main for those attending opening night, February 12th only. Tickets are $30 for general audience, or $25 for HTC members, and can be purchased at algonquintheatre.ca
