Over the past several months, Town staff and planning consultant, WSP Limited, have been working with an Official Plan Review Working Group, appointed by Council, to prepare background information in support of the Official Plan.
Based on that information, the planning consultant has prepared a Preliminary Policy Directions Report, which establishes a framework for the Official Plan to be prepared. The policy directions contained in this report do not represent the proposed policies to be integrated into the Official Plan, but rather the foundation upon which the new policies will be prepared.
A copy of the Preliminary Policy Directions Report and other information on the project is available on the Town’s Website at huntsville.ca/opreview.
If you were unable to attend the recent open houses or provide feedback to date, you can still submit comments on this report via email to [email protected] until October 20, 2017. There will be additional opportunities to provide feedback during public consultation while the Official Plan is being drafted.

As much as adjusting details of the Huntsville Official Plan, Huntsville Council must adjust its attitude and principles so that when, as has happened with regularity this year, developers demand to bend the planning rules and regulations, Huntsville Council has the guts to say no.
That’s the most significant adjustment required.
