Hospice Huntsville’s annual Purple Tea Party is set for April 8 at 1 p.m.
All proceeds raised from the tea party will go toward the Hike for Hospice fundraising goal of $55,000. The hike is Hospice Huntsville’s largest fundraiser of the year. The organization is responsible for raising 50 per cent ($534,000) of their annual costs, the other 50 per cent comes from the Local Health Integration Network.
This is the second year the tea party will be held at the Huntsville Place Mall.
“As Muskoka’s only indoor shopping centre, Huntsville Place Mall is a very important part of the community,” said Lindsay Edwards, the mall’s marketing and promotion manager. “With an event like the annual auction and Purple Tea Party, it is a no-brainer for us to come on board as the sponsor venue. After speaking with Hospice Huntsville volunteers three years ago, I knew we had to step up and help however we can. Personally I have had two loved ones in the care of Hospice Huntsville and upon a recent walk through of the home, Algonquin Grace Residential Hospice, I was struck again by how much it really is that, a home.”
There will be more than 120 items to bid on in the silent auction, along with sandwiches and treats provided by Bear Necessities Bistro and Catering and Whimsical Bakery. Advanced bidding is underway at the Huntsville Place Mall March 31, April 1, April 6, April 7 and April 8. Bidding is open at 9:30 a.m. each day and will close at the tea party.
“The silent auction suits every budget,” said Melissa Polischuk, Hospice Huntsville’s fundraising and public relations coordinator. “There are items starting at $25.”
Admission to the tea party is by donation. The event is on a first come first serve basis; it sold out last year.
“I implore the members of our wonderful community to stop by and support the Hospice Huntsville auction and Purple Tea Party or stop in to Hospice Huntsville and see what you can do to help them from dropping off monetary donations to seeing how you can become a volunteer. Without services like Hospice Huntsville our community couldn’t and wouldn’t be as spectacular as it is,” said Edwards.
