It’s fun, it’s for all ages, and it’s all for charity. Jump in and make a splash for Hospice Huntsville at its newest fundraiser, PoolaPalooza.
PoolaPoolza is happening at the Canada Summit Centre on November 24, 2019. The two-hour fundraiser will include both traditional lane swimming and a fun and engaging relay event. Swimmers choose which they’d like to participate in. A pizza party sponsored by Boston Pizza will wrap up the day.
Funds raised at the event will help Hospice Huntsville continue to provide its programs and services to the community for free.
The dedicated staff and volunteers of Hospice Huntsville offer a variety of supports for those dealing with grief due to the loss of loved ones and/or who are in need of end of life care.
In addition to the 24-hour care offered free-of-charge at the Algonquin Grace residential hospice, Hospice Huntsville offers many other free services. When a loved one is nearing end of life, often the primary care givers could use a break and Hospice Huntsville is available to offer respite care with its visiting volunteers. Community members young and old have benefited from their twice-annual support groups.
Being with others who understand and who know the challenges of grief makes it possible for people to get through an immensely emotional time. Melissa Polischuk, PR Coordinator for Hospice Huntsville, says that the services offered by Hospice “allows families to alleviate the constant need to be caregivers so they may be present and cherish time with their loved ones at end of life.”
As one anonymous family member put it: “The amazing thing was the time my husband and I had together, talking, reading, watching TV, just being together while nurses and PSWs did all the work of caring. The staff took such wonderful care. They insisted that their job was to care for him so that I could relax.”
Hospice Huntsville is grateful for the 30 years of support from their community; this financial support has made these free services available and has helped them become one of the most highly qualified hospice providers in Ontario. They are looking forward to offering this fun event to encourage continued community support.
Pre-registration for PoolaPalooza is required by November 15 to ensure a fun and organized event. With a $50 registration fee, participants can begin to gather pledges—Hospice Huntsville makes it easy through CanadaHelps.org and participants can link their fundraising page to their social media accounts.
