Do you know what Hospice Huntsville provides for our community?
The short answer, and the one most people would reply with, is end-of-life care but it’s much, much more than that.
Through a new survey, the organization hopes to better understand both how its services are understood and viewed by the community, as well as how it can better serve community members with its programs.
“The board of directors has identified community awareness as one of the priorities of our three-year strategic plan. Hospice Huntsville will use the survey tool to assist us in understanding how well the community understands our programs and services and it will provide the opportunity for community input,” said Bev Lashbrook, executive director at Hospice Huntsville.
“It’s also for us to understand how we can better serve the community,” added Melissa Polischuk, Hospice Huntsville’s fund development & public relations coordinator.
You can comment on the survey here. It will remain open for several months and, once closed, results will be shared with the community.
All of Hospice Huntsville’s programs and services are free of charge and they’re available to anyone in the community, whether that’s the support of the residential hospice, Algonquin Grace, compassionate care at home or in a healthcare setting, or grief and bereavement support for families and caregivers regardless of whether or not a loved one was a resident at Algonquin Grace.
Hospice Huntsville must raise 60 per cent of its operating budget each year and relies on the support of the community for both donations and its fundraising events. The next fundraiser is the annual Purple Tea Party and silent auction, which will be held at the Bear’s Den Restaurant in Huntsville Place Mall on Saturday, April 13. It, as well as the April-long purple boot campaign, during which you can drop your spare change in the purple boots at retailers throughout Huntsville, are both fundraisers for the Hike for Hospice which will be held on Sunday, May 5.
