Hike for Hospice is Hospice Huntsville’s largest fundraiser of the year. Funds go toward operational costs and to allow the programs and services offered to remain free for those who require comprehensive end-of-life care, including grief counselling programs for family members.
The organization is responsible for raising 50 per cent ($534,000) of their annual costs, the other 50 per cent comes from the Local Health Integration Network.
Last year Hospice Huntsville raised about $56,000 from the hike. They are hoping to do the same this year at the hike’s new starting location: River Mill Park (see route maps by clicking on the poster at the bottom of the page).
You can participate in two ways: by signing up for the hike and gathering pledges, or by supporting the cause with an online donation, dropping your spare change in the purple boots around town, or getting a purple-painted pedicure or manicure at participating local spas.
You’ll find all of the details online here.
