The HHS Alpine Ski Team has had a strong season despite inclement weather days that caused some race cancellations. Twenty skiers competed for the Hoyas this year.
The team travelled to the GBSSA (Georgian Bay Secondary Schools Association) championships at Osler Bluff Ski Club on Thursday, February 14, where all skiers performed well. They each compete as individuals in either the High School category or the Open (club-trained) category. Where individual skiers are part of a five-member team, the top three individual results are combined for a team score.
The HHS ski team’s results from the GBSSA championships are as follows:
High School Boys (1M) Individual
Noah Jason placed 2nd
Kyle Mattice placed 9th
Chris Miller placed 11th
High School Boys (1M) Team
The team placed third overall out of twelve teams. The team consists of Chris Miller, Noah Jason, Harry Farnsworth, Dale Shewfelt and Kyle Mattice.

The High School (Level 1) Boys team came third in their category and qualified for OFSAA.
Coaches Zach Belfry and Nico Byl will attend OFSAA with Noah Jason, Kyle Mattice, Chris Miller, Harry Farnsworth and Dale Shewfelt. Races were scheduled for both February 25 and 26 in Collingwood at Osler Bluff Ski Area, but due to inclement weather the races for February 25 have been postponed.
Live results will be available on the OFSAA Alpine 2019 website.
Good luck HHS skiers!
